philanthropy and fund-raising, what first comes to mind may be whatever favorite charitable cause we choose to support. Perhaps there are multiple causes.
If you actually work in fund-raising (as I did for nonprofit hospitals for nearly 40 years), the topic generally conjures visions of donors and prospective donors, usually individuals who can and will make a difference with generous giving. In hospitals, we called these people grateful patients.
Partly because of that "grateful patient" element, one of the top tenants of fund-raising for most nonprofits is that giving is always LOCAL, so the accounts of the highly-successful fund-raising done by the Clintons through the #ClintonFoundation are remarkable and essentially unable to be duplicated by any other cause and any other fund raiser. If you read the clips, news, links and continuing #SocialCurrentSee of this topic, you will understand that what the Clintons are able to do with their foundation breaks the mold.
