When it comes to transparent oversight of matters pertaining to public business, the average American must rely on the national and local news media for the bulk of unbiased (?) information. Of course the task is made, at once, both more easy and complicated by the internet.  Here, the news media not only publishes in abundance but countless other sources also publish to the web. Readers have to gauge the reliability of all sources.

One of those sources in the charity and philanthropy realm is Charity Navigator that identifies itself this way: "an American independent charity watchdog organization that evaluates charitable organizations in the United States. Its stated goal is "to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace in which givers and the charities they support work in tandem to overcome our nation’s and the world’s most persistent challenges."

Not surprising, Charity Navigator has turned its charity watchdog role into a political observation frame with the following account: Clinton Foundation takes steps to be rated by charity watchdog.  And these additional stories are posted around the same time:
